An 18-month-old child in Arizona, U.S., experienced an unbelievable ordeal when a doctor pronounced him dead, mocking the paramedics who said he showed signs of life, but was ultimately found alive in the morgue of the hospital to which he had been taken after being discovered unconscious in a swimming pool.
The incident occurred on February 8 when the toddler’s family called the police after finding the child face-down in the pool at their home.

Rescuers who arrived at the scene began resuscitation efforts on the baby, whom they transported to the hospital.
There, the police officers told Dr. Arian Tousi that they had observed signs of life in the child; however, he pronounced the infant dead one hour after the child’s arrival at the hospital.
According to the police report, the doctor was sarcastic toward the officers, telling them, “Please do your job and let me do mine. “I went to medical school for a reason.”
“If there are no objections, I would like to announce the time of death,” Tussi said, according to video footage from a body camera worn by one of the officers involved. “Time of death: 6:20 p.m. A moment of silence,” said the doctor.

The unimaginable discovery that the child was alive was made by staff from the medical examiner’s office when they arrived at the hospital five hours later and found that the child was still breathingbreathing. The child was airlifted to another hospital, where he recovered and has since been discharged.
The doctor’s attorney, Scott Holden, told the BBC, “Out of courtesy to the family and out of respect for patient privacy, we respectfully decline to comment at this time.”
For its part, the hospital administration stated in a press release that it had conducted “a thorough review of all aspects of the care provided to determine what happened and to make meaningful changes to improve our care,” describing the situation as “shocking,” though without providing further details.
