The Isaac-Solomos Memorial Initiative continued its journey on Thursday with the naming of Isaac-Solomos Square in Ano Kerynia, Achaea, marking the thirtieth anniversary of the murders of Tassos Isaac and Solomos Solomos.
“The long journey, both by sea and by land, ending with our arrival at the port of Piraeus, was difficult, but it was rewarded with an event of immense and historic symbolism in Kerynia, Aegialia, which serves as a reminder of the occupied city of Kyrenia in Cyprus,” states the Initiative’s announcement.
The unveiling ceremony for Isaac-Solomos Square was conducted jointly by the president of the Ano Kerynia community in Achaea, Tassos Isaac’s mother, Tasoula, and his daughter, Anastasia.
Next, the motorcyclists traveled to Elos, Laconia, where a tribute ceremony was held at the bust of retired Lieutenant General Ilias Glentzes, company commander of the 31st Commando Squadron during the victorious capture of the Kotza Kaya hill during the Turkish invasion of 1974.
As stated in the announcement, the Initiative’s tour will continue to Karava on Kythira, Leonidio, and Salamis in Attica, before departing for Rhodes and Kastellorizo.
