Israel has provided the United States with new evidence that allegedly shows Iran is considering a plan to assassinate Donald Trump, according to a report in the Wall Street Journal. The information comes at a time of rising tensions between Washington and Tehran, against the backdrop of clashes over the Strait of Hormuz and threats of retaliation from Iran.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the new assessment by Israeli intelligence agencies could signal a further escalation in the conflict between the United States and Iran.

Tehran has repeatedly vowed in recent years to take revenge on Trump for the assassination of Qasem Soleimani, the top general of the Revolutionary Guards, during the U.S. president’s first term.

The Israeli embassy in Washington declined to comment on the report, while the Iranian mission to the UN did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

“They want to eliminate the leader of the U.S.—me,” Trump told reporters in Turkey.

“I’m on every list. I saw it this morning—I’m on every single one of their lists. So far, I guess I’ve been a little lucky, but that might not last much longer,” he added.

"We’ll kill Trump" chants at Khamenei’s
funeral
Reports of the new alleged plot against Trump emerged as large crowds had gathered in Mashhad for the funeral of Iran’s former Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

According to reports, the crowd chanted slogans calling for revenge against the American president.

“I swear by the blood of the Supreme Leader, Trump, we will kill you,” shouted some of those present, while women held signs reading “Kill Trump.”

The streets leading to the shrine in Mashhad were filled with mourners dressed in black, with some chanting slogans in support of Khamenei and against Iran’s enemies, including the old revolutionary slogan “Death to America.”

Trump and Netanyahu Discuss Iran
in Phone Call
Amid this climate, Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke by phone on Thursday evening, as part of the two countries’ ongoing coordination regarding the conflict with Iran.

Trump briefed Netanyahu on U.S. actions in the Gulf and the American strikes against Iranian targets.

For his part, the Israeli prime minister warned the U.S. president about the possible approval of the F-35 deal with Turkey.

Netanyahu also raised the issue of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s harsh statements against the existence of the State of Israel, as well as the need to maintain security zones along Israel’s borders.

No further details about the conversation between the two leaders were disclosed.

Despite the communication and developments in the Middle East, a White House official confirmed that there are currently no plans for a meeting between Trump and Netanyahu.
