Since early Friday morning, the Counterterrorism Unit has been conducting an operation in areas of Thessaloniki and Crete, to locate and arrest individuals allegedly involved in the three arson attacks on July 1 targeting the homes of New Democracy officials, in which Vagia Nestora, the mother of Aphrodite Nestora, lost her life, while four other people were injured.

So far, three people have been arrested, with two of the arrests taking place in Chania and Thessaloniki. Meanwhile, police are continuing to search premises and buildings as part of the counterterrorism operation.
