Thibaut Courtois felt discomfort during Belgium’s quarterfinal match against Spain and, in the 70th minute, was unable to continue, prompting a forced substitution from the “Red Devils” bench.

The moment of his departure was particularly emotional. The 33-year-old goalkeeper left the field with tears in his eyes, perhaps knowing that his injury could prove to be serious. His teammates rushed to encourage him, while the crowd gave him a warm round of applause.
The sight of Courtois caused even greater concern given his history. In recent years, he has been plagued by serious injuries, most notably a torn anterior cruciate ligament, as well as other knee problems, which kept him sidelined for a long time.
