Given the circumstances and conditions in Cyprus, it was cool… for as long as it lasted. The summer season may have kept a “low” profile for the past month, but starting tomorrow, we’ll once again see the kind of summer we’ve come to expect over the last 10 years.
The Meteorological Service has issued a yellow warning for exceptionally high temperatures, as the mercury is expected to reach up to 40 degrees Celsius in inland areas.
“As for our temperatures, starting tomorrow we expect around 40 degrees in inland areas, 35 degrees on the southern and eastern coasts, around 32 degrees on the western and northern coasts, and around 30 degrees in the higher mountainous areas.”

The warning will take effect at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday and will remain in effect until 5:00 p.m.
“Roughly the same conditions will continue on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Temperatures appear to be staying at roughly the same levels. We expect the yellow warning to remain in effect throughout the three-day period.”

The Meteorological Officer sought to reassure the public by clarifying that these temperatures are not far from normal, but are 1–2 degrees higher.
Nevertheless, health experts recommend avoiding prolonged exposure to the sun, staying well-hydrated, staying in shaded or air-conditioned areas, and taking care to store food properly, especially when traveling to the beaches.
