An Indian national is missing following an attack on the merchant ship GFS Galaxy off the coast of Oman earlier today, the country’s Ministry of External Affairs announced. It should be noted that the vessel in question is a Cypriot-flagged container ship that was transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
“Of the 11 Indian nationals on board the ship, 10 have been rescued so far, while one Indian national is reported missing,” the ministry added, while condemning the attack.

The Indian Embassy in Oman is closely monitoring the situation and is coordinating with Omani authorities in the ongoing search and rescue operation, the ministry added.
Iran had announced earlier that it fired a warning shot that struck a ship, which, it noted, was traveling on an unauthorized route.

Iran was given yet another opportunity to demonstrate its compliance with the Memorandum of Understanding, having been called upon to account for previous attacks on commercial vessels, but it failed once again.
In response, the United States is imposing heavy costs, continuing to degrade Iran’s ability to attack civilian sailors and merchant ships passing freely through the strait. The attacks are being carried out under the direction of the Commander-in-Chief.
