“Our investment in the health sector continues in a systematic and planned manner, with projects throughout free Cyprus.” Nikos Christodoulides, President of the Republic
The President of the Republic announced additional infrastructure projects in the health sector totaling 61.7 million euros. In a video, Nikos Christodoulides announced a series of projects that will move forward, which will be added to those already announced and underway, totaling 145 million euros, including the construction of a new hospital in Polis Chrysochous.
It was decided to proceed with the second and third phases of the Athalassa Mental Health Center, the creation of a new Infectious Diseases Unit at Nicosia General Hospital, the upgrade of the Intensive Care Unit and the Internal Medicine Department at Larnaca General Hospital, along with new facilities for the Cardiology and Pulmonology Clinics, as well as upgrade and maintenance work at Troodos Hospital.
These projects bring the total investment to 206.7 million euros. (perforated)
“Projects in every district. Infrastructure for every citizen. Wherever they may be. Because behind every project, there is a person. A patient who needs better-quality care. A family that wants and deserves to feel safe. A healthcare professional who deserves modern infrastructure and the appropriate resources.” Nikos Christodoulides, President of the Republic
Speaking from Paphos, the government spokesperson referred to an expanded meeting chaired by the President of the Republic with OKYPY, last week, in the presence of the ministers of Health and Finance, during which the progress of infrastructure development projects was discussed.
“I would like to remind you that the President of the Republic had announced 128 million euros. Added to this is another 15 million, which of course goes toward the Chrysokhou City Hospital. A hospital that has been under discussion for years but is now on track for implementation. And, of course, another approximately 67 million, bringing the total to 200 million euros for infrastructure alone.” Konstantinos Letympiotis, Government Spokesperson
These are projects for which specific timelines have been established, and compliance with them will be assessed during upcoming meetings, as he assured.
