Mr. Vyronos noted that the findings of the Independent Anti-Corruption Authority have been forwarded to the Police and are in the possession of the Chief of Police, noting, however, that it has not yet been reviewed by members of the Force.

“The report is in the hands of the Police Commissioner. We are standing by and awaiting instructions from the criminal investigators.”

She clarified that the Police are not currently conducting any investigation into the case, adding that it is ready to assist, if requested, as part of the proceedings to be followed.

“As far as I know, the investigators have not yet contacted us regarding any assistance they may need. We are here and ready to help in any way necessary.”

It should be noted that the “State Mafia” case concerns the content of the book of the same name by journalist Makarios Drousiotis, which makes allegations regarding corruption, collusion, and the functioning of institutions in the Republic of Cyprus.

Following the book’s publication, the Independent Anti-Corruption Authority examined relevant complaints and evidence submitted to it, ultimately preparing a report.

After the Authority completed its proceedings, it was decided to forward the report for further evaluation by independent criminal investigators, who will examine whether any issues requiring a criminal investigation have arisen.

It should be noted that in statements made last week, Government Spokesperson Konstantinos Letympiotis had reported that the Council of Ministers approved the provision of all necessaryfacilities to independent criminal investigators, both in terms of administrative support and logistical infrastructure.

According to the Government Spokesperson, a suitable space with full office equipment has already been secured, and the necessary arrangements have been finalized to provide the required staff who will offer administrative support for the team’s work.
