The Famagusta Permanent Criminal Court today sentenced a 30-year-old man to eight years in prison after finding him guilty in a rape case. The case had been investigated by the Famagusta Criminal Investigation Department.
According to the complaint filed with the police, the rape was committed on July 13, 2024, in the Famagusta district, with a woman as the victim.
Upon completion of the police investigation, the police immediately filed the case on July 31, 2024, for immediate trial by the Famagusta Permanent Criminal Court. Upon the Court’s instructions, the 30-year-old remained in custody as a defendant for the purposes of the judicial proceedings.
After the Permanent Criminal Court reviewed the evidence gathered by the police and presented before it by the prosecution, it found the 30-year-old defendant guilty, and sentenced him to eight years in prison.
