A breathtaking video is making the rounds online, capturing the dramatic moments that followed a man’s fall from the world-famous Niagara Falls.
In the footage, the man can be seen swimming in the river’s raging waters, just minutes after, according to witnesses, he was swept away by the strong currents and fell from the Horseshoe Falls, the largest and most impressive of the three waterfalls that make up the Niagara Falls complex.
The incident reportedly took place in late June.
He fell from a height of 52 meters
According to eyewitnesses, the man was standing at a dangerous distance from the edge of the falls when the water swept him away in a matter of seconds. His fall is estimated to have been from a height of approximately 52 meters.
A video circulating on social media shows the man in the river, struggling against the foaming waters and strong currents as he tried to stay afloat.
Rescue teams, who were dispatched immediately, located him downstream, pulled him from the water, and rushed him to the hospital, where he is being treated for serious injuries; however, his life is not in danger.
In light of this incident, the relevant authorities are once again issuing a stern warning to visitors, reminding them that adhering to safety measures and avoiding restricted areas is of vital importance, as a moment of recklessness can prove fatal.
