The Ministry of Education, Sports, and Youth’s building plan for the 2026–2027 school year is on track for implementation, with a total of 23 large-scale projects either underway or scheduled to begin, at a total cost of over €125 million.
According to the Technical Services of the Ministry of Education, Sports, and Youth, these initiatives are part of a plan to ensure the smooth, safe, and modern operation of public schools at all levels of education.
Among the most significant projects currently underway or planned are the construction of the New Limassol Technical School and the Limassol Pedagogical Institute Annex, at a total cost of €33.7 million, as well as the construction of the New Agios Lazaros Technical School for Green Professions in Aradippou, in Larnaca, with a budget of €36.5 million.
Significant investments also include projects for seismic retrofitting, expansions, general improvements, and the replacement of school buildings. These include the expansion, seismic retrofitting, and general improvement of the Second Technical School of Limassol (€6.5 million), the replacement of the Deftera Elementary School (€7.3 million), as well as a series of projects at elementary schools, middle schools, and kindergartens in Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca, and Paphos.
The Technical Services of the Ministry of Education also mention the improvement of safety in existing school buildings, through seismic retrofitting projects, such as at the Evrybiades Junior High School in Larnaca, the Drosia Junior High School in Larnaca, and the Konstantinoupolis Junior High School in Nicosia.
At the same time, the Ministry of Education, in collaboration with the School Boards, continues to carry out smaller-scale maintenance and improvement projects, with the aim of continuously upgrading school facilities and creating safe and functional learning environments.
The total cost of the 23 large-scale projects amounts to €125,080,141.36.
