The draw was held for the third-tier EHF handball championship, the EHF European Cup, in which three Cypriot teams are participating this year: EN Athenou, APOEL K.N. Agios Trimithias, and the Mavrommatis women’s team.

Specifically, all three teams will begin in the second qualifying round alongside 30 other teams, with their primary goal being to secure one of the 16 spots in the third qualifying round. There, they will face another 8 teams, and the 24 teams in total will compete in a knockout format for a spot in the group stage.

EN Athenou will face the Portuguese team Clube Jovem Almeida Garrett. Last year, they finished third in Portugal’s highly competitive league and are considered a strong team.

The APOEL K.N. Agios Trimithias team will travel to Azerbaijan to face Kur. The Cypriot team faces a difficult task, as the Azerbaijanis are one of the country’s top teams, with a consistent presence in both domestic competitions and European cups.

Finally, Mavrommatis’s women’s team learned who its last opponent will be: it will face HK Garliawa SK from Lithuania.

The first matches for the three Cypriot teams, both home and away, are scheduled to take place on October 3–4 and October 10–11.
