This seems to be exactly what is happening with Messinia, which the British Independent describes as one of Greece’s most up-and-coming destinations, predicting that Christopher Nolan’s highly anticipated “Odyssey” will draw the attention of millions of travelers to the region.
This phenomenon is known as “set-jetting”—the trend of travelers visiting locations where their favorite movies and TV shows were filmed. We saw this with “Game of Thrones” in Croatia, “The White Lotus” in Sicily and Thailand, and “Mamma Mia!” on Skopelos. Now, all signs point to Messinia being poised to write its own cinematic story.
