A jet ski capsized in waters off the Turkish coast, and Greek authorities recovered the body of a minor off the coast of the island of Kos.
According to ERT, the incident occurred off the Turkish coast, specifically at the Turkish tourist resort of Bodrum.
Early in the afternoon, the Coast Guard’s Search and Rescue Center received a call from the Turkish Coast Guard regarding the incident, requesting assistance from Greek authorities.
According to their report, three people were on board the jet ski. A search was immediately launched, and shortly thereafter, the body of a young girl—whose age is unknown at this time—was recovered in Greek territorial waters.
The girl’s body was transported to the hospital in Kos, where an autopsy has been ordered to determine the cause of death.
Search operations are continuing in the area to locate the other two missing persons, who, according to reports, are adults.
A Coast Guard vessel and a Hellenic Air Force helicopter are participating in the search operations being conducted by Greek authorities.
