Sometimes, reality writes stories that even the most imaginative screenwriter would struggle to come up with. In 2007, at Camp Nou, a young Lionel Messi was trying, somewhat awkwardly, to hold a baby in a small plastic bathtub. None of those present could have known that the baby in the photo would grow up to become one of the greatest talents in world soccer. That child was none other than Lamine Yamal.
Today, nearly twenty years later, that image takes on an almost prophetic quality. The 39-year-old Messi and the 19-year-old Yamal are set to face each other for the first time on the field, in the 2026 World Cup final between Argentina and Spain.
