Apollon’s press officer spoke to “SPOR FM 95.0” about the team’s preparations, today’s friendly match against AEK, and the current state of the team.
Fanourios Konstantinou discussed the team’s transfer plans, the very important first European “battle” against Dila Gori, and the team’s season tickets.
The “Blue-and-Whites’” press officer also addressed what had been said about Ozbolt, while once again emphasizing that the “blue-and-whites” stand by Goldson.
The main points of his remarks:
On the team’s preparation and today’s friendly match: “This is the dress rehearsal ahead of the official matches. I believe it will be a draw for the team’s fans, who may not see many new faces due to some misfortunes and unfortunate scheduling conflicts. Allen Ozbolt and Athanasiou will be out; they missed the friendlies as well due to minor injuries. For us, it’s a good test ahead of the matches against Dila Gori, barring any unforeseen circumstances.”
In team news, Gary returns to training on Monday, while Ozbolt also has a chance of making next week’s roster.”
Regarding transfer plans: “We wanted to finalize our transfer plans earlier, but certain circumstances and setbacks held us back. Mainly the situation with Goldson, with whom we’ll be speaking in the next few hours. He had surgery yesterday and everything went well.”
Regarding the European match: “For us, this is a key factor. We’re expecting a good turnout and want the stadium to be full. We want to let the team’s fans know that admission is included with season tickets, so they should hurry to secure them. I believe our opponent will be Dila Gori. They’re a team that’s better prepared than we are, but there are no excuses. Whoever the opponent may be, Apollon must be ready to overcome the challenge.”
On transfers and Aigu: “Some deals have gone through and others haven’t. ‘Close’ and ‘far off’ are relative terms in these matters. Our immediate priority is a defender, as this development has set us back in our planning. The setback with Goldson, as I said, has set us back. We hope he’ll be strong. Apollon will be by his side. This process is certainly difficult.”
Regarding season tickets: “Fans will have until the end of August to purchase season tickets. We’re pleased. With the addition of three more players, Apollon will be ready to pursue its goals.”
Regarding what’s being said about Ozbolt: “What’s being said is utter nonsense—I’m putting it politely, and I apologize for the expression. I’ve already mentioned the situation with the Slovenian forward, who will be racing against the clock to be ready for the European match. I believe he’ll be a huge help to us in scoring goals in the future.”
On transfers: “We have a very solid core, and any new players who join us will have to be better than the ones we already have. We’re just as eager as the fans to see the new players—if not more so.”
“We have to submit our European roster by midnight tonight, and we’re allowed two changes up to 24 hours before the game.”
