A meeting of the Political Bureau of the Democratic Alarm was held today to assess and analyze the results of the recent parliamentary elections.
As the first item on the agenda and in opening the session, the President of the Democratic Alarm, Ms. Annita Dimitriou, briefed the members of the Political Bureau on the latest developments regarding the Cyprus issue, emphasizing that our national issue remains the top priority.
Ms. Dimitriou stressed that the momentum observed recently is creating conditions that must not be left unexploited. As she noted, it is everyone’s responsibility to work with seriousness, consistently, and methodically to ensure that every opportunity is seized to resume substantive negotiations based on the agreed framework for a solution.
This was followed by an exchange of views among the members of the Political Bureau, during which the common position was reaffirmed that our liberation from the occupying forces is the most important prerequisite for the future of our homeland.
The Political Bureau unanimously welcomes the visit of the UN Secretary-General to Cyprus as well as the appointment of the European Union Special Representative for Cyprus. The Democratic Alarm expresses its steadfast position in support of our side’s efforts, in a spirit of harmony and internal unity.
This was followed by a review of the parliamentary election results by Deputy Chairman Mr. Efthymios Diplaros, who presented his assessments and conclusions, while the Director of Organization, Mr. Andreas Stavrinidis, also provided a more detailed analysis of the parliamentary election results at the provincial and local levels.

The DISY President thanked all the party officials, candidates, volunteers, and the thousands of citizens who supported the party, noting that the result is a significant affirmation of the public’s trust, but at the same time creates an even greater responsibility toward society.
