On Thursday night, U.S. armed forces launched new attacks against Iran, according to an announcement by the command responsible for the Middle East region (U.S. Central Command, or CENTCOM).

A CENTCOM statement via X noted that “at 2:00 p.m. (Eastern Time in the U.S., 9:00 p.m. in Cyprus), U.S. forces began launching a new wave of attacks against Iran, for the fifth consecutive night, with the aim of further degrading the capabilities of the Iranian military.”
Following the April ceasefire, hostilities between Washington and Tehran resumed on July 7, following attacks on commercial ships in the Gulf that were attributed to Iran. The attacks that followed undermine diplomatic efforts aimed at ending the war.
