A total of 7 kilograms of untaxed tobacco was discovered on Thursday at a restaurant that also offers hookah services, during an investigation conducted as part of routine inspections by a team from the Limassol Customs Investigations Division.
According to a statement from the Customs Department, it was also determined that the establishment did not possess the required, up-to-date licenses for the sale of tobacco products and alcoholic beverages.
The tobacco was confiscated, and the owner of the premises was arrested for summary offenses, and later, after she requested an out-of-court settlement for the offenses in exchange for payment of a total of €3,200, which was accepted, she was released.
According to the announcement, the confiscated tobacco products will be destroyed at licensed facilities in accordance with established procedures as contraband.
