Giorgos Michael spoke about the case of Andreas Mavroudis and the reports suggesting he is set to join Omonia.
The vice president of Nea Salamina made it clear that “there is no line of communication,” noting that while there had been an initial approach in the past, negotiations did not proceed due to a disagreement over the resale percentage.
At the same time, he addressed the roster changes and outstanding issues.
Here are his comments to SPOR FM in detail:
Regarding Hanin and his announcement: “This is part of our ongoing efforts to strengthen the team and fill out the roster before we leave on Sunday. At first glance, his age raises some questions, as he is 36, but we must take into account that he is coming off a full season in France. He has been evaluated, and based on all the information we have, we believe he will provide many solutions. Beyond that, the pitch is where everyone’s true performance will be judged.”
On Dario Poveda: “All the players will be part of the squad departing from Cyprus for Poland. Fortunately for us, we’ve finalized the deal with Poveda, even though it was a difficult situation. He’s joining us along with Loukas and another forward we’re set to sign, to help us score goals. He has quality, plenty of experience, and is coming off some good seasons.”
On the new signings and how many remain: “We’ll be signing a right winger, an attacking midfielder, and another forward. Right now, we’re planning on three more signings, but we’ll need to be patient. Several players are being evaluated, and it’s also up to the coach. Perhaps in the end we’ll make two signings instead of three.”
Regarding the Mavroudis situation: “We want to let everyone know that we need to be cautious in certain cases. It’s one thing to have information and another to be in negotiations. At this moment, we are not in talks with Omonia regarding Mavroudis. He is an exceptional player. In the past, there was an approach from Omonia, but they subsequently changed their stance due to some of our demands, such as the resale percentage, and the interest did not move forward. At this time, there is no line of communication with Omonia, and what has been reported does not reflect reality.”
