Mario Hezonja’s future at Real Madrid remains uncertain, with *Marca* reporting that the Croatian forward is doing everything he can to leave the "Queen," as his contract expires in the summer of 2029.
According to the Spanish report, the 31-year-old’s primary goal remains a return to the NBA. In fact, he changed agents last February, joining Misko Raznatović’s BeoBasket agency, which had left open the possibility of his client’s return to the other side of the Atlantic.
The report also states that the contract he signed in the summer of 2024 includes an opt-out clause exclusively for the NBA, amounting to 850,000 euros, which remains in effect for a little while longer.
If, however, a return to the NBA does not materialize, developments in Europe cannot be ruled out. In that case, any team wishing to sign him would have to negotiate with Real Madrid.
Dubai BC appears to be one of the teams closely monitoring the situation, while in Turkey, there have been intense rumors of interest from Anadolu Efes.
However, Marca is now bringing Panathinaikos into the picture, noting that the “Greens” could be a potential destination for Hezonja. The Spanish outlet also recalls recent comments by Gerson Yabusele, who had said that his former teammate at Real Madrid used to sing chants of the Panathinaikos fans, confirming the close relationship he maintains with the club and its supporters.
