An alarm was triggered at noon on Saturday in Kypseli after a suspicious suitcase was found on Evelpidon Street.

The suitcase was found in an abandoned building by a homeless person, and the police were called to the scene.

During the police inspection, human remains were found inside the suitcase; however, it has not yet been possible to determine the victim’s gender.

The area was immediately cordoned off so that the necessary investigations could be conducted and evidence collected by forensic teams.

According to a local resident, the abandoned building had been open about two years ago and had provided shelter to homeless people, but a fire broke out and it has been closed ever since. He said he had seen a homeless person living further down the street for a few weeks, but in recent days he has disappeared without a trace.

The Organized Crime Division has taken over the case, and the investigation is in full swing.
