AEK pulled off a comeback victory against Groningen. The Greek champions celebrated a 2-1 victory over the Dutch side in their third friendly match, which wrapped up the first phase of their preseason preparations.
The “yellow-and-blacks” ended the first half tied 0-0, but the second half got off to a rocky start, with Relvas receiving a straight red card in the 55th minute for a hard tackle. In the 65th minute, the Dutch opened the scoring with Zaouada, but in the closing minutes, the “yellow-and-blacks” staged a comeback with a beautiful goal by Zini (77’) and a header by Kaloskamis (83’).
In the coach’s mind: Marco Nikolić lined up AEK in a 4-4-2 formation, selecting a strong starting lineup. Brignoli was in goal, Mukundi and Relavs in the center of defense, Rota and Pilios at fullback. Kairinen and Marin in midfield, Zubkov and Koita on the wings, with Varga and Jović up front
