The State Department issued a global warning on Saturday, advising Americans—particularly those in the Middle East—to “exercise increased caution,” as the conflict between the U.S. and Iran continues.
“Due to heightened tensions in the Middle East, the security environment remains complex, with the potential for unpredictable escalation. We remind Americans in the region of the ongoing need for caution,” the State Department said in a social media post. “U.S. diplomatic facilities, including those outside the Middle East, have been targeted. Groups supporting Iran may target other U.S. interests abroad or locations associated with the United States and/or Americans around the world.”
Saturday’s warning comes after the U.S. military announced the deaths of two service members, while another is missing, as a result of Iranian attacks in Jordan.
The U.S. State Department last issued such a warning in March.
