Stefanos Tsitsipas claimed the 13th title of his career—and his first since Dubai last March—by defeating Belgian Rafael Collignon (No. 42) 2-1 in the final of the Swiss Open in Gstaad. The 27-year-old Greek tennis player (No. 85) will jump up in the world rankings following this victory, reaching No. 55!
In the first set, Tsitsipas broke serve and took a 4-2 lead; his opponent tied the score, but Tsitsipas won the next two games to close out the set 6-4 in 37 minutes.
In the second set, Colignon came out stronger and led 2-0 and 4-2 in games, but “Stef” took the next three games to make it 5-4. The Belgian, however, managed to tie the score at 6-6 and dominated the tiebreak 7-3, leveling the match at 1-1 in sets.
In the third set, Tsitsipas broke serve in the fifth game to take a 3-2 lead, and after holding his serve, he sealed the victory 6-3, winning his sixth title on clay.
