Customs officials at Larnaca Airport discovered two undeclared luxury watches, as well as clothing and footwear with a total value of approximately €46,000 in the luggage of a couple.
A fine and a surcharge of €5,022 were imposed for the failure to declare the items, while duties and taxes totaling €10,221 were collected.
In a statement, the Customs Department reported that “on July 7, Customs Department officials at Larnaca Airport, following an assessment of information, discovered in the luggage of a couple of Russian passengers with Cypriot citizenship, aged 55 and 62, respectively, who had arrived from Switzerland via France, two luxury wristwatches, clothing, and footwear, with a total value of approximately €46,000, which they failed to declare for the payment of the corresponding duties and taxes.”
It is reported that “the passengers were fined a total of €5,022 for failing to declare the items, while the corresponding duties and taxes totaling €10,221 were also collected.”
