Scaloni was never able to finish the press conference shortly after Argentina’s World Cup final loss to Spain, 1-0 loss to Spain in extra time of Sunday’s match.
Shortly before becoming overcome with emotion and leaving, the “Albiceleste” coach said: “I’ll honor my contract through December, and we’ll see… I don’t know if it’s possible to achieve something this great again. I’m grateful for this tremendous opportunity I was given.
We’re in a job that’s the stuff of our dreams. You’ll never find a group of people like this again. It breaks my heart—I’m sorry…”.
What a terrible end to Scaloni’s press conference. He left in tears, inconsolable. He knows that an era of players is coming to an end and that it won’t be an easy process. I may have some criticism for him, but never more than that. You’ve brought joy to my life forever. pic.twitter.com/amE9fMR5D2
