"For the Hellenic Armed Forces, Cyprus is close by” is conveyed by Greek Defense Minister Nikos Dendias on the occasion of the 52nd anniversary of the 1974 Turkish invasion.
“52 years since the Turkish invasion of Cyprus, the memory remains vivid,” the minister stated in a social media post.

“We honor the fallen, the missing, and all those who defended the freedom of the Great Island,” he notes, emphasizing that “the Cyprus issue remains a matter of illegal occupation”.
“Nicosia cannot remain the last divided capital of Europe today. To our brothers and sisters in Cyprus, the message is clear, especially in light of recent developments: for the Hellenic Armed Forces, Cyprus is close by,” he concludes.
