Government officials have their eyes fixed on the upcoming cabinet reshuffle, with Nikos Christodoulides in constant communication with his close associates.
Government sources report that the President of the Republic wants to wrap up the changes to the government lineup before the Secretary-General’s visit to Cyprus, in a week.
DIKO and the Cabinet Reshuffle
The key to the reshuffle is, of course, DIKO, whose Secretariat will meet tomorrow.
This meeting will result in specific recommendations to the President of the Republic, following their most recent meeting with him last Thursday at the Presidential Palace.
DIKO received assurances from President Christodoulides that the party will emerge strengthened in the new government.
Against the backdrop of the presidential
behind-the-scenes developments, any moves are directly linked to the final run-up to the presidential elections, as Nikos Christodoulides seeks allies for the 2028 election.
He is, of course, well aware that in order to have Nikolas Papadopoulos by his side in 2028, he must first satisfy the centrist party, not only through cabinet positions but also through the terms of its participation in the government.
While beyond DIKO and the other centrist parties, the President of the Republic is also looking toward DISY, as he wants to keep on his side the segment of the Synergatiko electorate that supports him.
