Disappointment is immense in the Argentine camp following the 1-0 loss to Spain in the World Cup final, which deprived the "Albiceleste" the chance to win back-to-back titles.
Argentina’s head coach, Lionel Scaloni, has left his future wide open, as his contract expires this coming December. In fact, many reports suggest that the possibility of his departure is more likely than ever, with Italian journalist Nicolo Schira analyzing the situation regarding the finalists’ future.
Specifically, in a post, he revealed that if Scaloni decides to step down, then his most likely replacement is Marcelo Gallardo—who, however, isn’t… acting alone.
And that’s because the Argentine Football Association’s greatest desire is Diego Simeone, whose contract with Atlético Madrid expires in the summer of 2027.
