Aymeric Laporte has firmly established himself as a key player for Barcelona following his outstanding World Cup performance, where, alongside Pau Cubarsi, he formed one of the most consistent defensive duos for the Spanish champions. His performance has caught the attention of several clubs, and the “Blaugrana” are closely monitoring his situation.
According to reports from SPORT, Barcelona intends to contact the player’s representatives immediately to learn about his plans for the upcoming season. The club highly values his profile: he is left-footed, financially accessible, and possesses a combination of experience and consistency that is considered ideal for strengthening the defense.
Deco had already made initial exploratory contact during his visit to the U.S., with the promise of further discussions after the World Cup concludes. The sporting director watched several of Laporte’s games up close and was impressed by his level of play, while the club believes he can make an immediate impact and contribute for several more seasons.
His release clause, which is under 15 million euros, makes the deal even more attractive from a financial standpoint. At the same time, the successful signing of Iñigo Martínez serves as a positive precedent for a center back with similar attributes.
Barcelona, however, wants to proceed with caution: Discussions with the player’s representatives will continue over the next few days, and that will determine whether the matter will proceed to an official level or remain in the exploratory stage. The interest is real, and Laporte’s file is already open on Deco’s desk.
