Moments of terror unfolded on Sunday at Cincinnati Airport in Northern Kentucky, USA, when the tail of a Boeing 777-300 ER, operating as Kalitta Air Flight 264, touched the runway during landing, causing sparks to fly.
According to the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the incident occurred when the Boeing 777-300ER, operating Flight 264 from Brussels, unsuccessfully attempted to land, causing its tail to scrape the runway.
Fox19 obtained video footage capturing the moment the aircraft’s tail dragged along the runway, causing sparks, before taking off again, while an eyewitness can be heard shouting in surprise.
The aircraft finally managed to land at approximately 8:15 p.m. local time, while Kalitta Air’s director of operations, Hith Nicol, stated that no crew members were injured and that the aircraft was taken out of service immediately after landing for inspection and technical evaluation.
At the same time, the Federal Aviation Administration announced that it would investigate the incident.
