The Cyprus Scientific and Technical Chamber (ETEK) informs its members that the new international video from the International Social Security Association has been published – Construction Section (International Social Security Association – Construction Section, ISSA-C) on the global strategy “Vision Zero – Safety. Health. Wellbeing.”, which features examples from Cyprus, highlighting our country’s contribution to promoting prevention, safety, and health in the workplace.

Through representative examples from Cyprus and other countries, the video demonstrates how the implementation of the Vision Zero strategy and its seven Golden Rules contributes to the prevention of workplace accidents, improve occupational safety and health, and foster a strong culture of prevention.
Particular emphasis is placed on examples from Cyprus, which highlight the campaign’s first Golden Rule: “Take Leadership – Demonstrate Commitment” (Take Leadership – Demonstrate Commitment). The video’s central message is that active leadership commitment is a fundamental prerequisite for creating safe and healthy workplaces and for achieving the goal of zero workplace accidents.
The video is introduced by the President of ETEK, who points out that architects and engineers play a decisive role in ensuring safety and health at all stages of a project’s life cycle. At the same time, he emphasizes that responsibility for safety and health goes beyond compliance with technical requirements and is directly linked to the protection of human life, health, and well-being.
The video’s first official screening took place at the international conference “From Risk to Resilience: Achieving Vision Zero with AI and Sustainable Construction,” organized on July 2 and 3, 2026, in Limassol by ISSA-C, in collaboration with the International Safety and Health Construction Coordinators Organization (ISHCCO), ETEK, and the Cyprus Association of Civil Engineers (SPOLMIK). The presentation of the video during the conference highlighted the active role of Cyprus and Cypriot organizations in the international promotion of the Vision Zero strategy and in the exchange of best practices.
The global campaign “Vision Zero – Safety. Health. Wellbeing.”, in which ETEK participates as an official partner, is an initiative of the International Social Security Association (ISSA) and promotes a comprehensive approach to the continuous improvement of safety, health, and well-being in the workplace through the implementation of the seven Golden Rules. In addition, the Vision Zero strategy is included among the priorities of the European Strategic Framework for Safety and Health at Work 2023–2027.
ETEK calls on engineers, employers, companies, and organizations in both the public and private sectors to adopt the Vision Zero strategy and implement its seven Golden Rules, thereby actively contributing to the creation of safer and healthier workplaces.
ETEK extends its warmest thanks to Scaffolding Solutions Ltd for its valuable contribution to the production of this video. Special thanks go to the company’s Managing Director, Mr. Andreas Polydorou, for his excellent cooperation, for hosting the filming and for his participation in the video, which helped highlight best practices that advance the Vision Zero strategy.
