Loizos Moisos, a spokesperson for Nea Salamina, gave an interview to “SUPERSPORT 104.” He discussed the team’s preseason preparations, transfer plans, as well as issues concerning the “Ammochostos” stadium and season tickets.
Here are his comments in detail
On yesterday’s friendly match: “Our first official friendly match on Cypriot soil ended in a draw. The results of these friendly matches don’t matter—whether the team wins, loses, or draws—because they’re solely for the coaches and their staff to test things out and their experiments, and yesterday this was evident in that we fielded different starting lineups in the first and second halves—something that’s common in these types of games. We’re moving forward with the rest of our friendly matches: on Saturday against Enosis Neon Paralimniou at Tasos Markou Stadium, on Wednesday in Ammochostos against Anorthosis, and on the 15th against Krasava, again in Ammochostos. Our final dress rehearsal will be on August 22, and I’ll announcethe opponent will be announced at a later date.”
What the coach says: “Ángel López is completely satisfied with what he’s seeing. There is room for improvement overall, our coach is completely satisfied at this stage; there is still plenty of time to achieve even greater cohesion both on the field and among the players in general.”
What remains regarding upcoming transfers: “The transfer plan is clear—we have three positions left to fill: a center forward, a center back, and an attacking midfielder. This is the kind of period where anything can happen—there might be one more signing, or one fewer—it could go exactly as I described. Everything will proceed according to plan. We all know the peculiarities of this time of year; sometimes plans change, or somethingunexpected event or an injury—it’s clear how many transfers will take place and the positions we’ll be targeting.”
Regarding the new signings: “Signing these specific players requires tremendous work behind the scenes, meticulous work to carry out the necessary procedures for their acquisition and ultimately finalize their signings—nothing was left to chance with the players who were signed to fit into the coach’s plan.”
If there’s anything close to being signed: “There are ongoing discussions right now; as for whether a deal is close, it’s best not to comment on it. If it happens, it will be announced through the team’s official channels, and that’s where the information will be shared.”
Regarding season tickets: “We’ve set a goal of 1,500 season tickets; we’re already past the halfway mark, so things are going well. Of course, we’re reaching out to the fans—season tickets are a significant part of our financial picture. The main reason we’re making this appeal is for the momentum and support they provide to the team; we’re optimisticin this regard as well.”
Regarding the stadium renovations and whether they have been completed: “A great deal of work is being done, mainly on the administration’s initiative. Without financial assistance—it’s essentially the administration covering the costs out of our own pockets—these upgrades are taking place They’re taking place on many levels—the locker rooms, the offices, and the track are all being modernized. These upgrades are taking place because the administration wanted them—they’re something that’s fitting—and at Nea Salamina, there are some that will be completed; the only certainty is that they’ll be finished before the start of the new season, and the image of Ammochostos Return will change significantly for the better.”
Regarding whether Krasava will play in Famagusta: “It’s still up in the air at the moment; the information we have is that we’ll be going to Ammochostos on our own; however, it’s a process we’re waiting to see how it unfolds—the final decisions will be made, and it’s not up to us. Let’s put out another call for Fan Day on Sunday, August 23, at the Ammochostos “Epistrofi” auxiliary facilities.”
