Trump is once again optimistic about the end of the war with Iran: “I don’t think they can hold out much longer.”

He also spoke about the war in Ukraine

U.S. President Donald Trump appeared tonight, once again, optimistic about the negotiations with Tehran and argued that progress is also being made in efforts to end the war in Ukraine.

“I don’t think they can hold out much longer,” he said of the Iranians, while leaving open the possibility of a swift end to the conflict.

Referring to the situation in the region, the U.S. president maintained that at this moment “everything is on the table,” emphasizing the role of the U.S. Navy in the blockade.

“We have what’s called a blockade, led by the U.S. Navy, and we’re in control of it. We’re in control of it now, but there’s always the possibility that something could be launched, an incident could occur, or a mine could be planted. And if there’s even one mine in the sea, it can create a huge problem, because no one wants to risk a ship worth billions of dollars and accidentally hit a mine,” he remarked.

Despite the risks, Trump appeared reassuring, noting that the United States is effectively managing the situation. “I believe we’re doing very well. I’m personally involved in the negotiations, and I think they’re progressing positively,” he said.

When asked when the war might end, the U.S. president replied laconically: “It could happen soon.”

Trump also addressed reports that U.S. ammunition stocks were running low, arguing that the U.S. still has essentially unlimited quantities of certain particularly powerful weapon systems. “We have certain types of ammunition that are extremely powerful, and we have practically unlimited stocks. There are other types where the situation is a bit more limited,” he said.

According to him, military aid to Ukraine has led to the use of specific ammunition that is considered particularly effective, even though it is older-generation equipment.

“We’re using ammunition that’s very powerful and very effective, but under different circumstances we wouldn’t use it. We could use something different, but these are a slightly older type and just as effective,” he noted.

Referring to the war between Russia and Ukraine, the U.S. president stated that the bloodshed continues at a heavy human cost.

“It saddens me to see 25,000 young people being killed every month, and that is exactly what is happening between Russia and Ukraine. On average, 25,000 people are dying each month, mostly soldiers,” he said.

He maintained that efforts to reach an agreement are underway, noting that progress is being made, although he described the conflict as extremely difficult.

“We’re working on this, and I believe progress is being made. But this is a violent—a very violent—war. There is a lot of hatred in this conflict, a lot of hatred between the two leaders. I have helped end eight wars. I thought this might be one of the easiest, but it has turned out to be the most difficult. Nevertheless, progress is being made,” he concluded.
