A shocking video from a camera in an operating room at the moment of the 7.1-magnitude earthquake in Japan on July 28, which left dozens dead and caused significant damage, was released yesterday, Thursday.
In the video from the operating room camera at a hospital in Kumamoto City, while surgery was already underway on a patient under general anesthesia, everything can be seen shaking violently.
As the footage shows, almost nothing and no one could stay in place, with two members of the surgical team hugging the operating table and the patient to protect him.
According to Japanese media reports, the surgery was temporarily suspended but resumed shortly afterward and was successfully completed.
It should be noted that the hospital in question resumed normal operations on August 5.
The powerful earthquake struck the southern Japanese island of Kyushu on the afternoon of July 28 (Japan time), resulting in the deaths of approximately 38 people and injuries to more than 120.
Authorities reported that the powerful tremor caused an explosion at a shopping mall, toppled a factory chimney, and caused widespread damage throughout the Kumamoto Prefecture.
