Police arrested a 28-year-old man to facilitate the investigation into cases involving attempted burglary, possession of burglary tools during the night, as well as other offenses.
Specifically, as part of a coordinated operation to prevent burglaries and thefts, carried out in the early morning hours yesterday, August 6, 2026, by members of the Paphos Police Department, a specific area was placed under surveillance.
During the operation, police officers spotted an individual moving suspiciously and entering residential yards. Upon seeing the police officers, the 28-year-old attempted to flee but was apprehended and arrested for the flagrant offense of unlawful entry. During a subsequent search, burglary tools were found in his possession.
A search of the 28-year-old’s vehicle followed, during which burglary tools, a sum of money, and a quantity of narcotics were also found and seized.
According to testimony obtained against the 28-year-old, he is alleged to be involved in a residential burglary and theft case that occurred on November 18, 2025, in the Paphos district, as well as in an attempted burglary committed on May 21, 2026, also in the Paphos district.
The 28-year-old appeared yesterday before the Paphos District Court, which issued a five-day detention order against him.
The investigation is ongoing at the Pegeia Police Station.
