A tragedy occurred on Friday in Thailand’s Nonthaburi Province, where a ninth-grade student opened fire with a firearm, killing a total of eight people, according to police.
The suspect, approximately 14 years old, reportedly first killed his grandparents using his grandfather’s gun, and then went to his school, Debsirin Nonthaburi, on the outskirts of Bangkok. There, he shot and killed three teachers and three students.
The provincial police chief, Lieutenant Colonel Dehrapi Kongdi, confirmed that the juvenile suspect took his own life after the attack. According to the official statement, the student fired 26 shots, and 34 more spent cartridges were found at the scene.
At the same time, there is confusion regarding the number of victims. Thailand’s Deputy Minister of the Interior, Polapee Suwunchwee, reported that five teachers were killed inside the school. However, in an earlier statement, the National Police mentioned three teachers and three students.
According to Thai authorities, more than 30 people have been injured in the attack carried out by the 14-year-old. The injured are being treated at six hospitals in the area, while nine people are in critical condition.
Authorities have deployed seven mental health teams to provide immediate support to the community, the injured, and the victims’ families.

New Accounts
New accounts from students at the school reveal the atmosphere of terror during the deadly attack carried out by a 14-year-old student, who killed his grandparents at home before going to school and opening fire.
Seventeen-year-old Purin Khumchoo told AFP that he was targeted by the perpetrator: “He was the youngest kid at my school, but I had the feeling he was a troubled kid. My friends said he was obsessed with the FBI and guns and that he was being bullied by other students.” Purin described the moment the shooter targeted him: “He looked like a professional, as if he’d been trained for a long time.”
This is the second school shooting in Thailand in 2026, following the death of a teacher and the injury of a student at a school in the southern part of the country in February.
