The attempted murder in the Paphos district took place at a monastery, with the 51-year-old alleged perpetrator being a monk.
According to reports, the Ecclesiastical Committee visited the monastery today and informed the 51-year-old monk that he had to leave the monastery and vacate his cell.
The 51-year-old refused and allegedly stabbed a 53-year-old technician at the monastery, injuring him in the neck and arm, while a 27-year-old monk intervened during the incident, attempting to stop the assailant, resulting in him also being attacked and injured in the arm with a sharp object.
Authorities proceeded to arrest the 51-year-old as part of an investigation into attempted murder, acts intended to cause serious bodily harm, injury, stabbing, as well as the illegal possession and carrying of an offensive weapon.
The 53-year-old was taken to Paphos General Hospital, where his wounds were sutured, and he was admitted for treatment. The 27-year-old was also taken to the hospital, where he received first aid and was discharged.
The Paphos Traffic Accident Investigation Unit is continuing its investigation.
