There was a strong police presence and activity throughout Cyprus last night, with organized patrols conducted at key locations in urban areas, aimed at preventing serious criminal acts, maintaining public order, and enhancing the public’s sense of security.
As a result of these preventive police operations, 12 individuals were arrested for offenses such as illegal possession of drugs, driving under the influence of alcohol, illegal residence in the Republic, car theft, theft, and malicious damage, among others.
As part of these operations, 838 drivers and 348 passengers were stopped and checked overnight. At the same time, 56 property inspections were conducted to address illegal activities, resulting in six complaints.
During the traffic checks that were carried out, 402 citations were issued for various traffic violations, and 18 cases of traffic violations are currently under investigation.
Among the citations issued, 162 were for drivers exceeding the speed limit, and as part of police investigations, 25 vehicles were impounded.
A total of 292 breathalyzer tests were conducted, resulting in 19 citations, while four drivers tested positive in preliminary drug tests.
Law enforcement operations aimed at crime prevention and suppression continue daily, with an increased/reinforced police presence, targeted checks, and immediate operational action, with the aim of increasing citizens’ sense of security, protecting citizens, and ensuring public order.
