Temperatures will remain high over the next few days, at least through Wednesday, Meteorological Officer Matthaios Papadakis, told KYPE on Saturday.
When asked by KYPE whether there is a possibility that the phenomenon could persist or intensify, the meteorologist answered in the affirmative, noting that “there is certainly a possibility” in the coming days and that developments will be monitored. Regarding humidity, Mr. Papadakis noted that conditions in certain areas are expected to be particularly difficult due to the combination of high temperatures and humidity.

“It’s tough on the coast,” he said. He noted that while temperatures in Nicosia may remain at 40 degrees, the high humidity levels on the coast also make conditions difficult.
Speaking to the News Agency, Mr. Papadakis stated that a yellow heat wave warning has been issued for today, with temperatures reaching 40 degrees Celsius in inland areas.
When asked whether the heatwave is expected to peak or even set new temperature records in the coming days, Mr. Papadakis said that “temperatures will remain at roughly the same levels over the next few days,” noting that today’s temperature is expected to range between 39 and 40 degrees.
Therefore, he added, the exceptionally high temperatures will continue, and he estimates that we “most likely” should expect similar conditions in the coming days.
“The situation is similar to what we had in early August,” he said, adding that temperatures are “slightly above normal.”
According to Mr. Papadakis, the weather will remain mostly clear, and the same conditions are expected to persist “every day” during this period, at least through Wednesday.
