In response to media reports and public statements regarding the investigation into a possible violation of personal data protection laws by Mr. Makarios Drousiotis, the Police clarify in a related announcement that the case is being investigated following a complaint filed by a specific individual.
It is clarified that the investigation into the case was not initiated ex officio by the Police, but is an action taken following the filing of the relevant complaint and the evaluation of the evidence presented to the competent authorities.

The Police note that, as is their practice in every such case, they are acting exclusively within the scope of their authority and are conducting the necessary investigative actions, with full respect for the law, the rights of all those involved, and the presumption of innocence.
The investigation into the case is ongoing, and for this reason, no further comment will be made, the Cyprus Police concludes in its statement.
