The Minister of Defense is expected to finish reading the report on the fire at the Kalo Chorio firing range by Monday.

The Minister stated that he cannot make any further comments on the matter, as the criminal investigation is ongoing.

“We will wait for the criminal investigation to be completed, which will be submitted to the State Legal Service, and once the process is complete, we will take a position on any findings related to the disciplinary investigation that pertain to our ministry.”

However, questions are being raised about the role of the Commander of the National Guard, to whom the findings were submitted, that is, the person who also took responsibility for the fire as head of the National Guard.

“There are points in the report that stand out,” said Vasilis Palmas, though he himself had stated from the very day the fire broke out that those responsible could be identified by name.
It should be
noted that, regarding the investigation’s findings on the 13.6 kilograms of explosives that went missing from the firing range, merely stated that specific omissions and instances of negligence were documented, which will be addressed in accordance with the National Guard’s internal regulations.
