An 80-year-old woman lost her life while trying to flee her home to escape the flames of the massive wildfire that continues to rage in Canada.
The fire, which broke out last Friday afternoon near Lake Okanagan, spread rapidly, leading to the emergency evacuation of more than 20,000 residents from their homes.
Eric Thompson, an emergency management official (Okanagan-Similkameen), described the fire as one of the “fastest-moving and most rapidly spreading.”
