Hawaii has been shocked by the brutal murder of a 63-year-old security guard at a beachfront resort on Maui. The suspect is a 20-year-old competitive swimmer who was reportedly walking around naked in the area on the night of the crime.
According to authorities, security cameras captured 20-year-old Legend Storer, who was naked, heading toward the complex’s security office at approximately 1:45 a.m.
There, he found 63-year-old Dyer, who was taking a break from his shift. Storer—a student and athlete at Concordia University Irvine in California—allegedly burst into the office and beat him to death, using, among other things, a large water container with a capacity of approximately 19 liters.

He was wandering around naked and screaming
After the attack, the 20-year-old reportedly left the complex without being noticed. About two hours later, police received calls about a naked man wandering around a nearby neighborhood.
Residents reported hearing a man repeatedly shouting phrases with religious content.
“I heard a man shouting: ‘Jesus loves you. I am Jesus. I am Jesus.” He repeated it over and over, maybe as many as 15 times,” said a local resident.
Police officers found Storer with abrasions on his body and transported him to a hospital for evaluation.
A few hours later, around 5:30 a.m., authorities found the 63-year-old security guard dead. According to the police, the 20-year-old’s connection to the murder emerged after reviewing footage from the complex’s security cameras.
Storer was charged with second-degree murder, breaking and entering with a dangerous weapon, and indecent exposure. He pleaded not guilty during his first court appearance.
The court denied his request for release on bail, and the 20-year-old remains in custody at the Maui Correctional Center.
A colleague of the unfortunate 63-year-old said:
“He was a wonderful man. He was just in his office eating a cheeseburger during his break,” said a colleague of the victim, adding that Dyer was married and his wife worked at a local restaurant.
