There was a strong police presence and activity last night throughout Cyprus, with organized patrols conducted at key locations in urban areas, aimed at preventing serious criminal acts, maintain public order, and enhance the public’s sense of security.
These preventive police operations resulted in the arrest of six individuals for offenses such as illegal possession of drugs, illegal residence in the Republic of Cyprus, begging, and others.
As part of these operations, 639 drivers and 241 passengers were stopped and checked overnight. At the same time, 45 property inspections were carried out to address illegal activities, resulting in 19 complaints.
During the traffic checks that were carried out, 210 citations were issued for various traffic violations, and nine cases of traffic violations are currently under investigation.
Among the citations issued, 72 were for drivers exceeding the speed limit, and as part of the police investigations, 9 vehicles were impounded.
A total of 145 breathalyzer tests were conducted, resulting in eight citations.
Law enforcement operations aimed at crime prevention and suppression continue daily, with an increased/reinforced police presence, targeted checks, and immediate operational action, with the aim of increasing citizens’ sense of security, protecting citizens, and ensuring public order.
