Mykonos police authorities seized a significant quantity of narcotics during an operation carried out yesterday, Monday (August 10). Two men were arrested in connection with the case, while investigations are ongoing to determine the origin of the drugs and any links to a broader drug trafficking network on the island.

The operation was carried out by the Mykonos Police Sub-Directorate in the Petinaro area. There, police officers located one of the two men just as he was about to get on his motorcycle. Subsequently, in the presence of a judicial officer, a search was conducted at the residence in Agios Sostis, where the suspect was temporarily staying along with another man, who was also arrested.

During the search of the premises, large quantities of drugs were found, as well as items that, according to the authorities, are linked to drug trafficking.

Specifically, police found inside the house more than 500 grams of “rock” cocaine divided into four packages, four kilograms and 400 grams of raw cannabis in six packages, 161.7 grams of raw cannabis in 33 packages, 66.6 grams of cocaine, divided into 59 “small packets,” and 78 grams of pink cocaine in 11 packages.

At the same time, police officers found a precision electronic scale and packaging materials, including zip-top bags and clear plastic wrap. A total of 21,800 euros was also found in the home and confiscated.

The search was extended to a motorcycle owned by one of the two suspects. Police officers discovered quantities of drugs hidden in a spot above the front wheel that was not visible. Specifically, 50 grams of raw cannabis in 10 packages were seized, as well as 3.2 grams of cocaine in four packages.

Based on estimated market prices for the illegal sale and distribution of these substances in Mykonos, the total quantity seized could, according to police estimates, have yielded illegal proceeds exceeding 120,000 euros.

Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the origin of the drugs and whether the two suspects are linked to a broader drug trafficking ring operating in Mykonos.
