Shocking Ruling: Syrian Court Sentences Bashar al-Assad to Death

The same sentence was also imposed on the former head of Civil Security in the Deraa governorate

Former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and Atef Najib, former head of Civil Security in the southern Syrian province of Deraa, were sentenced to death.

A criminal court in Damascus found Assad guilty on Tuesday of premeditated murder, while Najib was convicted of premeditated murder and torture.
