A 7-year-old boy of Serbian origin had an adventure with a happy ending on the beach at Nea Plagia in Chalkidiki.
It all happened shortly after 12 p.m. on Sunday when the child was on an inflatable raft 40 meters from the beach, next to his parents.
Suddenly, the child slipped off the inflatable and began struggling to stay afloat. His parents then began calling for help, prompting the two lifeguards on duty to jump into the water and tow the child toward the shore, where he was immediately given first aid.
According to voria.gr, a check of the child’s vital signs revealed tachycardia, and he was subsequently administered pure oxygen. The child’s condition improved within a relatively short period of time, and his vital signs returned to normal levels.
The child remained under the constant supervision of the lifeguards for more than an hour, until it was determined that he was no longer in danger.
